"Satisfy your outdoor hunger!"

The G.R.U.B.(GUTS-R-US BLOG) is the official spot for the "GUTS-R-US Outdoors" Sportsman's Club to dicuss hunting and fishing adventures, outdoor news, product reviews, hot spots(not), talking smack and getting their maggot like appetites for the outdoors, satisfied with all that we love, live and work for 365 days a year!

The "Us" in Guts-R-Us:

Who is Guts-R-Us?  We are an ever growing group of outdoor enthusiast that have formed a network through friends and family, that enjoy nothing more than sharing each other’s company and adventures in this great heritage of pursuing game.

In turn, it is our mission to give back to this great heritage by introducing those that have yet to experience what a gift it can be.  This tradition has been passed down through the ages and we now are the fortunate ones that have an obligation to share all that this sport has to offer.  We insure that generations to come will continue to enjoy what we cherish so dearly.

To "US", it's the ultimate quality time.  Time to spend with the kids, an old friend, a new friend and for many of us, it's time with the "old timers" that once showed us how to tie that first fishing knot or track that first whitetail.  We are accompanied by our memories and great times on every adventure.  If not in body, than in spirit we all are "together" on every journey.

Guts-R-Us is not:

  •  A group of Trophy Hunters (We strive for quality and will take the "Big Ones" once the freezer is full or the opportunity allows.). Never be ashamed of your harvest.
  •  A group of Know-It-Alls (We are always learning from one another).
  •   A group of Ball Busters (Constructive criticism, competition, light banter and occasional ribbing is encouraged and expectable.  But absolutely “NO” busting on a person’s legitimate, legal taking of game because you’re some flipp’in Guru that thinks your way is best!
  • All Serious (Laughter is the key to living.  Im sure we  all have left camp or the boat, sore in the gut from having what some might call,"Too much fun".  It's what it's all about and we intend to keep it that way!)

About The Founder:

Jeff Kovacik - A.K.A. Kojak, Kourvoisier, Double Header, L.H., Kovak Jr., Telly, Baldy, Yankee and I'm sure a few others!

Like many Michiganders, I started early on with a love for the amazing outdoor resources this great state of Michigan has to offer.  I was introduced to the Great Lakes and Woodlands by my father James Kovacik who to this day is still my greatest hunting & fishing partner and who I owe a great deal of gratitude for giving me this gift of a lifetime.

I was hooked from the start and have made the outdoors a way of life for myself.  On a professional tip, I started working at 16 years old with my pops at the gun shows and many of the local Detroit area outdoor suppliers including Dunhams, MICH-I-GUN, Target Sports & Surplus City.  If you fished or hunted between 1986 & 1999 you very well may have picked up a new firearm, had your bow tuned or got the latest fish finder from me.  Although I am no longer in the industry, my passion for this stuff runs deeper than ever.  I spend a ton of time in the field now-a-days both on land and lake.  Fishing tournaments, outdoor conventions, scouting Whitetail, organizing venison donations for troops overseas and doing the gut pile boogey with my crew.  I have met so many amazing people over these years and have put this site together to remain in contact with all, share my knowledge, learn some new tricks, meet some new friends and have a place to come together and share the best of times.  I hope you enjoy!

This site is dedicated to all the "old timers" here and gone that have shared the gift of "The Great Outdoors" with us.  It would be shameful not to carry on such an amazing tradition. R.I.P. - Donald & Edward Constantineau, Gene Bilski, Ron Rucinski, Marcel DeBrabant and the many other Sportsman of the Heavens that have passed on but are never forgotten.  Thank you.
