As much as it would pain me to convert my Hoyt to back-up or a fishing bow, it may be the year for me to get with the times. Ive been avoiding this for a few years, but I saw something today that finally excited me. The new 2010 Darton Pro 3800. I started with Darton way back when, I love a Michigan product and the specs look pretty good. I need to get my hands on one of these. It would be sweet to see Darton back play'in with the big dogs. Check it out... http://www.dartonarchery.com/Pro-3800.html

I started my hunting adventures and harvested my first deer with a Darton.  Love the bows but bow technology has come a long way!  I am soooo impressed with the Matthews line of bows!!  There is a new one out for 2010 called the X-7.  Honeycomb frame, light as a feather, and amazing speed....it's a must see and feel!!!

I agree with the technological advancements and the reality that Matthews may be in the lead.  I think the core question here is Value.   Since yesterday's technology is still relevant, I ask the group to consider price points coupled with performance!  Matthews may have all the Tech and a bag of chips... but whom maintains the Value?  Darton?  Hoyt?

Hoyt is historically consistent, on the cusp of technologly and fairly priced.  I don't know anything about Darton, other than the opinions of my well respected friends and that Darton Bows is a Michigan Made Product... this is Value. BTW... I shoot a Hoyt!

I'm sure the Darton Bow's current technology and performance is more than adequate for all (it's) hunting applications.  I just think Matthews commands a premium for technology and a product platform that is generally, common industry knowledge... primarily to support their Marketing Budget!

Anyway... I say if we can support a Michigan based company that is able to provide a comprable service at a better price point AND is made in Michigan, we should support it... now more than ever!!!  Not to get political or anything...:D:wink:

       I shoot a PSE and i shot through a MASSIVE 3pts Back (trust me it was a big 3pt)... He didnt go more than 3-4 yds drop like a rock..I understand you guys wanting the best stuff.. I just say i think most of the time its the hunter and not the gear he brings to the field..Keep your money in your pocket ..Phil shot his bow until it exploded in his face (of course he is the "Deer Slayer")...

I agree with Mattio...its the hunter not the bow!  Darton is a Michigan Company that has been around as long as Matthews PSE and all the others brand name bows.  It was a tough choice btw PSE and Matthews.  What sold me on a Matthews had nothing to do with values, it had everything to with performance!!!!!!!!

I shot the Matthews Monster XLR8 against the PSE Omen.  For those that know me the Monster won, but the PSE didn't lose by much!!!!

So my advice to anyone purchasing a new bow is to compare your top three choices.  And yes you have to shoot them!!!!!  Every bow is slightly different.  To tell you the truth i wish i had never bought that bow!  I bought speed when speed doesn't matter.  I shot my first deer with 45lb draw at 22yds away, it ran 45yds and the tongue hung out the opposite side of the entry wound. :tongue:haha

Again check out the new Matthews X-7!!!!!

And yes I am a Rep.

It's Value, not "Values"... Values are something completely different; it's what Liberals claim they have... yet when they have the power to stop the Asian Carp from entering the Great Lakes, they won't. :D

Obviously, some have misunderstood my premise... the simple question I posed... What is the best Value on the Market?  Matthews is the most expensive Bow on the Market for the Technology.  I read the specs on that Darton Pro 3800... couldn't find the Retail Price (but didn't look too hard); therefore, I'm ASSuming the Darton Pro 3800 Costs less and maintains very impressive stats, add the fact that it's made in Michigan... this equates to Value.

I posed a Value (Great Performance+Fair Price) question... What is the best Bow Value on the Market today?

I shot them all at the Hunt'in Time Expo in Grand Rapids this weekend.  Watch the blog for a full report of the show and the 2010 bows that I shot.  My favorite was never even a consideration...
