So where is everyone wanting to hunt for the Spring Opener?  Im wondering who's in with me for what could be the Second Annual Evart TNT (Turkey N Trout) Opener. We have less than 30 days to figure it out.

Alright I did my research for the Spring Turkey and Trout trip and here's what Im stink'in:

The trout opener is the last Saturday in April which is 4/24/2010 and there is hunt #108 which is Unit K (April 19-April 25) where all the good trout fish'in is and I will do my best to get camp Don Won.  That would allow for 6 of us. Or we can camp which it doesnt matter how many we go with on that.  I know plenty of good state turf from Osceola to Kalkaska so Im not worried about where. I want to leave out Wed. 4/21 after work and stay till Sun. 4/25.  Thats (4) days of turkey w/the last two for trout or turkey if you have not filled your tag yet.  We should probably team up to better our odds.  I promised Jordon last year that we would team up on this so Im waiting for his response. I will leave it up to the rest of you to decide, but the first 6 to commit and partner get the spots at a heated camp! My second choice will be hunt #301 unit ZZ (4/19-5/2) which is private land only for the southern half where we all have property. I want to submit my application this Monday 1/26 so lets get some thoughts on this up quick like.  And make sure you clear it with your woman and work so no one loses out on a spot. PLEASE!

Ahhh yes…the Don Won turkey-trout extravaganza. I’ll be handing out tickets on how to fish and properly plunge through the dock into frigid waters. Or load three inebriated bastards into the smallest boat possible and slow row it around the lake with our lures whizzing through the air. It reminds me of a fly fishing trip I was on a many moons ago. Kojak, Shifty Schefke, Mike HoHo, and I are in river boats hovering over the water if you know what I mean. We stop for a scrumptious meal on the winding Manistee. Well Kojak decides to wade through the river and test out his skills. While HoHo is waiting patiently for a bite, Kojak hooks Mike in the back thinking he has a snag. He repeatedly yanks the rod forward! As HoHo screams Kojak subsequently realizes he has caught the big one!! We should have a great time! The engine screaming down the narrow trails of the State Forest with Kojak yelling GO GO…GO!!!!!!  Bring it Fred Bear.

I’M IN!!!!!

Its that time again Y'all! Turkey applications are in and we have till the end of the month to get'em in. I am once again thinking good thoughts about a TNT trip the last weekend in April, but I will be doing my Turkey Hunting in Sanilac this year.  Too many long beards spotted this last deer season and Im looking forward to back to back success for Poppa K.  Good luck getting your permits and let me know if any one else is in for the trout opener.  Someone should put in for a permit where ever we decide to fish.  Give me some ideas for who might be in and where we want to go.

MIne is in and this year I get to have my 5 year old daughter join me.  Best part is that I will be out opening day with her filming the hunt.  Then if she enjoys that will be out few days later filling her Papa's hunt.  She is so excited asking me everyday when we are going to go.  This coming from a 5 year old that went goose hunting about 9 times last year with us.  She fit rite in side the youth blind and enjoyed listening to the ipod at slow times.
