Just wanted to drop this link http://www.freep.com/article/20100208/NEWS06/100208043/1001/rss01

Its an update with whats going on with the the Asian Carp battle.  Lot's of ugly politics as usual.  I dont know what we can do other than stay educated for now.  The money that will be spent on this and who it goes to is going to get real interesting.  This will make Kilpatrick's handling of the City of Detroit look like childs play in comparison with what the Feds and State governments will do to our greatest Michigan resource.  I see a conspiracy theory in the works.  What do you think is behind it?

"Conspiracy theory"....   The key question is, if it's not a conspiracy, what would they do differently if it really was a conspiracy?  My own thinking is that the Great Lakes have been singled out long ago as a valuable commodity.

Like Asian carp and other invasive species, the White House has recently laid the groundwork for a federal takeover of the Great Lakes and its tributaries.

From The Detroit News:

Where is the powers of hunters, anglers, Michiganders, AMERICANS coming together as power in numbers to STOP this crap?  I had a very interesting conversation with my father this evening, who many of you know is also a LEO.  We talked about how todays public are a bunch of sheep.  What happened to the days of old when the masses came together and fought for what we believed in.  My dad was around in the days of the Detroit riots and war protest and things changed.  A lot of folks are complaining but nobody's really doing squat.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I will be in Ypsi on Wednesday.  Any takers? Im not saying you have to throw rocks yet, but stand the f*** up!

Make time Wednesday watch the meeting in Ypsilanti Michigan on the internet even if it is just the first ten or fifteen minutes... and make a comment... you can tell them that "over the past ten years they have failed to prevent the Asian carp from reaching Lake Michigan... the Framework is nothing new. We are depending on the same agencies that failed for the past ten years to prevent asian carp from reaching Lake Michigan to execute this new plan. Why should we expect the results to be any different, they will not. The Army Corps of Engineers have a proven track record of failure to stop the goby, then the Asian carp, they have demonstrated they have no sense of urgency protecting the Great Lakes. Close the locks NOW on the canals to prevent more carp from reaching Lake Michigan. Take aggressive actions to kill those carp that have breached the barriers."

We need everyone to make a comment similar to this... it goes into the public record. The Barge operators were well organized at the meeting in Chicago it was overwhelming against closing the locks. If we lose this battle the Great Lakes will not be so great anymore. For our friends on Lake Ontario this is not so far from you that it is not important, there is the Welland Canal and fish do survive the plunge over the falls.

Please send this to your friends who are interested in the health of the Great Lakes ... send it right away, there is not much time. If anyone can go to the meeting in Ypsilanti (near Ann Arbor Mi.) Please go, we need to make a big showing. It is certain the barge operators in Chicago are bussing in supporters. See you in Ypsilanti.

When?

3:00 – 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 17

Where?

Marriott Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, MI; 1275 S. Huron, Ypsilanti, MI 48197

The meeting also will be available via live Web stream at: http://www.epa.gov/greatlakes/live .

Those who cannot attend the meeting in person can submit questions on the Web site.

A transcript of the meeting will eventually be posted online at http://www.asiancarp.org/regionalcoordination . Comments on the framework may also be submitted online at the above Web site.

A couple locals that you might know in this one.  Ive said it before and I will say it again, we need to get educated and organized. These guys should be pissed based on the fact that their businesses depend on the fishing industry.   What will it take to Unite and Fight?
