Here's the break down; 1. Drove 75 miles to get a key to take out my own boat. 2. Deal with flat tire. 3. Lose cell phone for a short time. 4. Drive boat 16 miles across lake to infiltrate top secret Canadian Hot Spot! 5. Get the crap beat out of us by waves much larger than reported. 6. Lose one of the anchors and decide its good time to switch from jigging to drifting. 7. Drifting SCORES with a nice all species catch. 8. Headache kicks in and shortly after, I puke:) 9. Carburation issue on boat takes nearly an hour to resolve as we float aimlessly in the Canadian darkness. 10. 16 mile trip back with big waves and lots of darkness! Thank God for the GPS and Cell Phones. 11. Back home by 2:30 am and done cleaning fish and in bed, showered by 3:40. Mom is right, it's a sickness!
And now the fishing report: Best I can tell you w/o gps coordinates is middle of the lake on the Canadian side in 18 to 19 foot of water. Moved around for a while with perch rigs, both anchored and drifting. Perch were nice size but not very numerous. Switched over to drifting harnesses as I watched fish on the fishfinder start suspending near dusk. Put a couple nice waldos in the boat and lost a few as well. Finished it all off with a nice cat to complete the all species trip. Hot colors were gold/red and purple/pink. Check out the photos section for our late night snapshot. | |
