I just wanted to take a minute and share a message that Mr. Tom Canty sent me the other day.  It just goes to show that even if your not hunting this time of year there is still so many opportunities to get out and enjoy the fall and do some really positive things to promote the heritage that we all hold so close to our hearts.  For those of you that dont know Tom, he has been an avid outdoorsman his entire life and is also the creator of the theme music we have here at the GRUB.  In my opinion a true class act and a dear friend.  Good people and good times is what its all about.  If it's taking the kids to the pumpkin patch, catching the Salmon run or taking a ride down the back roads with your sweetie to see the colors change, get out and enjoy it!

From Tom;

Hi Jeff. Thanks for writing. Something must be wrong with my e-mail because your letter showed up just this evening, although it was written on Sept. 14. I hope everything's going good for you. I've been fishing a bit with my little grandson at a nearby mud hole. A couple fish took his worms, made the bobber jump and that was a thrill for him. I would have preferred a good catch but it was fun. Out here, no hunting for me, just occasional canoe paddling or bicycling or hiking. The hardwoods are beautiful, different from Michigan for sure but really nice. Big, straight as a mast tulip trees. Unbelievable how tall these trees are. And at night, filled with bats, sounds like rain in the leaves up high. There's something called "stealth camping" on bicycles and I've gone out three times this summer. An excellent way to get into the woods without any interference from humans. More trips are planned for the fall. I glance at your website occasionally and wish I was still in Tawas so you could come up there and we'd hunt that area. Big Bear Swamp east of Mio and the Cooke Dam Swamp on the Au Sable a little bit west of Oscoda are pretty good places to roam around with a gun. In the Thumb, ever hear of the Minden City swamp? I've been practicing some music with a fiddle player and we will start looking for work pretty soon. Our demo CD will be finished in a few weeks perhaps and I will send you one. Lots of sailing songs. I'm gonna sign off now. Getting up early for a canoe trip on a mud hole. I'll send you the CD soon. Good to hear from you!
